“Drip”
(USA) Documentary
Director: Mike Gardner
DV / 50 min.

A road movie? Maybe. “Thelma and Louise”? Maybe not. But a dang sweet journey just the same. A follow up to the first ever inland skimboarding fick “Flow”, “Drip” drives a new line between shoreside and flatland. “Drip”, a 50 minute skimboarding video, is not so much concerned with the who’s-who as it is with bringing worlds together.

“Drip” is a road trip from the St. George Virgin River Classic to Sacramento’s SkimFest and rounding out at the 26th annual Vic Pro/Am in Laguna Beach, CA. The show features the best skimmers mother earth has to offer, a few of the pioneers, along with one killer soundtrack.

“Forgotten Voyage: The Mormon Sea Trek That Sparked the Gold Rush”
(USA) Documentary
Writer/Director: Scott Tiffany
DV / 57 min. 41 sec.

In 1846 a clan of Mormon families fleeing religious persecution embarked on a perilous, six-month sea journey. On board the ship Brooklyn, 238 men, women and children undertook the first civilian sea trip from the East Coast to the West. At the time, only experienced seamen and merchants dared sail West because they had to round the treacherous tip of South America at Cape Horn. The Brooklyn passengers battled horrific storms and suffocating heat in which ten passengers died – most of them children. After a harrowing journey, the Brooklyn made port in northern California on July 31, 1846. Under the controversial leadership of newsman Samuel Brannan, these Mormons settled San Francisco for America and then sparked the Californa Gold Rush of 1849.
